Centre for Environmental Research & Education - Switch on Solar Project - Sanskriti Samvardhan Mandal’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra

CERE proposes to install an approx 7 kW rooftop solar power plant at Krishi Vigyan Kendra. This rooftop solar PV system will generate an approximate 9,800 units of electricity annually and will help the institute save Rs 1.56 lakhs every year in energy costs at an estimated Rs 16 per unit.
The system will also be connected to the electricity grid via a net meter. This will ensure that extra power generated during the day is supplied to the grid and that when solar power is not available the institute will be able to use grid electricity with any interruption to its services.
The solar power plant will help the institute divert funds from energy bills to sponsor more students and therefore increase the access of farmers in rural Maharashtra to skill development courses.
