Centre for Environmental Research & Education - Urban Afforestation Project (UAP)

The Urban Afforestation Project was launched at the start of 2015 and since then CERE along with its partners has completed the plantation of 2,49,500 plants in India, planting 200+ different native and naturalised plant species in 100+ unique locations across India, sequestering 55,134 tonnes of CO₂.
The project aims to increase the green cover in Indian cities by helping companies, organisations, and individuals reduce their carbon footprint. The UAP addresses three needs: (1) the need for green cover in the urban concrete jungles and (2) the need for creating habitats for urban fauna that is fast disappearing from urban landscapes (3) also the need of companies, organizations and individuals to reduce their carbon footprint through the sequestration potential of native tree species. CERE calculates the amount of carbon sequestered at each plantation site and clients are provided with a CERE Offset Certificate at the end of the plantation and assessment.
Budget: Rs 850/sapling inclusive of plantation, Geotagging Audit, issuing Carbon Offset Certificate and three years of Plantation Maintenance.
