Fibreship is a revolutionary R&D H2020 project funded by European Commission which attempts to develop a new market focused on the design and construction of large-length commercial vessels over 500 GT (approx 50m length) in composite materials. The project attempts to overcome the current market challenges and technology gaps to make feasible the building of these innovative vessels. The use of these materials expects for the stakeholders a significant reduction in the structural weight of the vessel implying a reduction in energy consumption and an increase of payload capacity, among other benefits such as O&M costs reduction.
