• Used Tetra Pak packages are recycled for use as construction material in the form of panel boards. • These are durable, aesthetically pleasing, long lasting, cost effective, inherently moisture and mould resistant and sound proof. • They are used to make furniture, flooring, ceiling and kitchen shelves.
Tetra Paks are not biodegradable and difficult to recycle as they consist of three layers of packaging comprising of paper, polyethylene and aluminium. The boards are prepared by first shredding and then granulating the raw materials. It is then pre-pressed for even distribution before hot-pressing and then cold-pressing under high pressure to make semi-finished boards. These are then cut and trimmed into boards of required shape and size.
The boards are easy to work with, cut and shape using regular wood working tools and machinery.
They do not rot, crack or knot unlike wood, and are not affected by termites, borers and bacteria. They are resistant to sea water, mild chemicals, oil and gas.
They are maintenance free, denser than wood and have good compressive strength.
Used for replacing wood, wood and plastic based panels such as plywood, particle board, MDF, plastic panels & pallets. Also used in construction & fair (exhibition) material, temporary shelter and cabins, driver & passenger seat base & back rest in three-wheeler automobiles.
