RUR GreenLife is a socio environmental organisation passionately working for the planet by creating eco conscious citizens founded in 2009.

RUR(Are you Reducing, Reusing, Recycling?) ideates, designs, builds, trains and implements customised turnkey, cradle-to-cradle, waste-to-resource solutions, which are both sustainable and decentralised.

Our innovative aerobic biocomposters replicate the forest way and recycle kitchen biodegradable wet waste into nutrient rich compost. We have a range of recycled products like furniture, office stationary. We work on CSR projects to maximise recycling and mitigate climate change. We provide solutions for homes, residential communities, schools, and corporate offices, aligning with circular economy and UN-SDGs.

ABOUT

RUR Greenlife works on end to end sustainable and decentralized solid waste management solutions which align with Swacch Bharat Mission and UN SDGs.

Our holistic decentralized patented bio composting systems are home to over 275 individual and community composting diverting over 750 tons of bio waste into compost annually. We have worked with esteemed customers like Siemens, Reliance, ICICI, Godrej, Wadhwa, Kalpataru and more.

Through interactive workshops, campaigns, events we sensitize and educate citizens on sustainable living. We also spread awareness through our digital platforms on a regular basis. As primary segregation at source of waste, we encourage a 3 bin approach; using colour coded and labeled bins: Green: Biodegradables, Blue: Dry Recyclables and Red: Trash leading to better awareness, higher recyclability and better downstream waste management. We have interacted with over 5 million people through our 12 years of journey through various platforms till date.

Through our flagship collaborative EPR (Extended Producers Responsibility) and CSR project with Tetra Pak India, over 9.8 million empty Tetra Pak Cartons have been collected by consumers for safe and effective recycling in Mumbai. Through this program, more than 1 million people have been educated towards importance of recycling. With 54 public collection centres in retail stores and over 250 private collection centres in schools, societies, churches etc, this program has been listed in Limca book of world records 2013 as a unique recycling program. Under this campaign, we have donated 350 school desks and 300 garden benches fully made from recycled Tetra Pak carton composite sheets.

That's how most of us relate to the natural process of wet waste degradation. And most of us are not wrong about this as the technology until now made the whole process a stinky affair!

So, If the composting process was not stinking would more people join in and compost their wet waste?

Monisha Narke, CEO and Founder of RUR Greenlife worked on this hypothesis and developed a composting system that revolutionized not just composting but allied industries as well.

Monisha Narke

Founder and CEO, RUR GreenLife

Monisha is an engineer in Electronics from VJTI Mumbai and pursued her Master's in Industrial Engineering and Management from Stanford University USA. She is a passionate environmentalist working with a vision to create eco conscious citizens and develop solutions to maximise recycling of waste to a resource. Awarded as the Entrepreneur of the Year 2017, she has been passionately working towards bringing positive changes through various CSR, EPR and Eco edutainment programs.
She has designed an innovative aerobic composter, patent filed and GreenPro certified, which are active across 250+ Decentralised waste management projects that manages to recycle 850 tonnes of biodegradable waste into compost annually increasing green cover. She received biocomposting excellence award from Solid Waste Management Association of North America, 2018 in composting category
She also drives Go Green with Tetra Pak in Mumbai in a strong partnership with Tetra Pak, Sahakari Bhandar and Reliance Fresh stores since 2010, which aims at at recycling post consumer Tetra Pak cartons into school desk for the less privileged schools.

Dr. Aparna Pandey

Sustainable Programs Manager

Dr. Aparna holds PhD in Microbiology from the University of Mumbai, and she handles the operations, composting process R n D and troubleshooting, She interfaces with clients and manages composting projects PAN India. She has spearheaded the GAAP program and plays a pivotal role in developing strategic sustainability ideas that transcends into business model for the organisation. She brings the project ideas to reality and has been driving a wide range of CSR programs end to end for the organisation. She is also an avid trekker and an athlete.

Manjiri Patil

Sustainable Programs Sr. Executive

Manjiri is an IT engineer from Mumbai, who loves interacting with lively things. She has shifted her career from IT engineer to an Environmentalist an year back and now she is following her passion - Nature! She works with holistic waste management solutions and eco education. She believes that rather than suggesting, discussing what can be done to save mother earth, if we inspire a single person to be sustainable, it is more than enough! Apart from this she is a choreographer and a kathak dancer.

Nishant Pai

Designer

Nishant is an architect and graphic designer from Pune, India. Through his varied practice, he engages with issues of sustainability and social equity through grass root and participatory design interventions in built and unbuilt spaces. He believes in the power of the design process to try to solve core societal issues beyond just the scope of built form and aesthetic; and embodies the responsibility and humility with which to approach such issues.

Rekha Nalavde

Admin and Logistics head

Rekha Nalavde handles the back-end logistics, communication and operation at RUR Greenlife. She is responsible for the smooth collection of Tetra Pak cartons from spokes and stores , data management and coordination. Rekha is a commerce graduate and a mother of a 14 year old daughter. She has been with the RUR for the last 9 years.

Sunny Gangar

Assistant Manager

Sunny is involved in Business development activities at RUR. He holds a Masters in Environmental Science degree from Institute of Science and is been active in the sector of Sustainable Development for over a decade.

RURs GreenGold Aerobic BioComposter

RURs GreenGold Aerobic Biocomposter replicated the forest way and is highly sustainable. Our Patent filed technology is independent of any bio culture or electricity. Additionally, the innovative smart air vents offer higher aeration in the compost pile and releases heat where the compost pile attains a temperature of 55-60 degree C. Once the breakdown is accomplished, the organic compost is utilized to create terrace garden or organic kitchen garden on premise, aligning the circular economy. In this way biowaste can be composted insitu in a decentralised manner contributing to UNSDG-1,2,4,8,9,11,12,13,15,17. Through our projects, we train the waste picker community on health and safety and a new skill of composting waste at source. We are able to transform their lives from scavengers to recyclers; which raises their self esteem, offers a new source of livelihood and dignity of labour.

School Desk

Desk made from recycled Tetra Pak cartons. This serves as an excellent utility product that can be donated to needy schools under the CSR sponsorship or otherwise. Children using these desks are sensitized about recycling and witness the recycling reality mainstream. The benches are extremely sturdy and comparable to standard school desks. Eco Education

With an aim to build a sustainable future we have built a curriculum for school children known as Green Awareness and Action Program (GAAP). This is an intensive program that encompasses 5 modules through 6 sessions as mentioned above. Each module is drafted with a combination of theory and practical sessions followed by activities that they carry out investing approximately 2hours a week. The program trains them about importance of waste management, segregation, recycling, composting, insights into biology and chemistry and instills leadership qualities to drive the program to their juniors.

Green Alternatives

We offer a range of green alternatives such as bamboo toothbrushes, combs and pencils made from recycled newspapers, cloth bags, recycled notebooks, organic cleaning agents etc. in order to create and support market for recycled products and bring in awareness amongst citizen to be a responsible consumer.

Employee Engagement Eco Workshops

We can develop various modules to engage corporate employees in online or offline mode through fun and informative learnings on waste management. The engagement programs include activities like expressing sustainable living through art, team projects, simple DIYs, games, and fun-engaging debates. The programs can be intensive 3 hour program or 2 days course or can be 60 mins per month kind of engagement.
